Seal of approval

Compass Group North America

Compass selected Solarweb to continue the development of its in-house web-based recipe and menu management system that is used to share, manipulate and report on information whilst collaborating with other organisation members, regardless of location. The application provides detailed recipe costing and nutrition based on accurate ingredient-by-ingredient calculations which in turn enable nutritionally balanced menu forecasting and reporting.

Technologies utilized include ASP.NET, Javascript and C# for the sophisticated web-based component with SQL procedures for the data storage and complex calculations and data manipulation. Using advanced features of SQL server, numerous enhancements were made to the application including data transformation to support extended nutritional information from external data sources.

Charlton House

Charlton House is a cutting-edge catering company that offers a truly unique service within the food industry today. At Charlton House, one of the UK’s most respected food catering services, they are passionate about food, naturally. Since Charlton House began in 1991, they have pushed the boundaries in outsource catering, hand in hand with a conscientious approach as a highly reputable corporate food caterer.

Being at the cutting edge of catering means that that they not only have to keep up with food trends but also ensure that they deliver all aspects of the service with precision and flexibility.

Keen to maintain high levels of communication between its distributed staff, who mainly work at customer sites, Charlton House approached Solarweb to develop an intranet site, that could be accessed remotely, to provide a central information source.

The intranet included a news management system, policies and procedures download area and a staff bulletin board. The latter achieved its goal of becoming a very “sticky” area of the intranet ensuring that staff logged in regularly and therefore seeing the latest news and documentation.
